This particular Zero was recovered at Ballale Field in the 70s. Over time it purchased by the Pacific Avaition Museum and repainted to represent the a/c flown by PO1 Shigenori Nishikaichi during the Pearl Harbor Raid. The original a/c crash landed on the Island of Niihau due to fuel starvation. It was destroyed by the Pilot who later committed suicide. The current a/c on display, was painted in PO1 Nishikaichi crash a/c colors. As was explain to me by my tour guide, the sample chips where taken to the locale Home Depot outlet where they matched it!
