Luftwaffe F-4 of JBG (Jagdbombergeschwader) 35 arriving at IAT93 from her home base at Pferdsfeld. This wing operated the F-4F as a fighter bomber with a secondary ground attack role. In April 1994, F-4F's from JBG 35 were the first fighter aircraft to overfly the Branderburger Tor (Brandenburg Gate) in Berlin since the reunification of Germany in 1990. In 1995 it was decided that the Luftwaffe should have one fighter wing in the area of the former Eastern Germany. So JBG 35 and the Test Wing MiG-29 combined to become JG 73 'Steinhoff' based at Laage. This particular F-4F was retired at the end of 2003.
